The first time I went to EDC Las Vegas, I made every mistake. I packed like I was going to Coachella. I drank water like I was at a normal weekend show. I wore jeans on day one. By 2 a.m. I was lying on the grass at the Speedway with a friend pressing a cold drink can to my forehead, watching Above & Beyond drop a set I would forget by morning because my body was too cooked to lock it in.
EDC 2026 is May 15 to 17 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Memorial Day weekend. 200,000 people a night. Average daytime high in Vegas in mid May: 92°F. Track surface temperature when the sun has been on it for six hours: hotter than that. The festival doesn't open until 7 p.m. for a reason, but it doesn't go cold when the sun goes down, either.
I've been four times since. I've helped friends pack for it half a dozen more. Here is the actual list. What to bring, what to wear, what to skip, and what to do the morning after so you don't lose three days of your life to the comedown. Most "EDC packing list" articles online are written by people who saw a TikTok. This one isn't.
The heat is the boss. Plan around it.
Everything else on this list flows from one fact. You are going to dance in 90°F+ heat for eight hours, four nights running, on three or four hours of sleep. Your body cannot do this if you treat it like you treat an average Saturday.
The hydration math: roughly 1 liter of water per hour during peak dance hours. That's not optional. That's not "I'll drink when I'm thirsty." Thirsty means you're already dehydrated and 30 minutes from feeling awful. Plain water alone won't do it. At that volume you'll flush your electrolytes and end up with a headache anyway. Cut every second water with electrolytes (LMNT, Liquid I.V., or honestly Pedialyte if you don't care about taste).
Bring a refillable bottle (Nalgene 32oz works, soft hydration pack works better, see below). EDC has free water refill stations. Use them. Constantly.
The 17 item packing list
Here is what actually goes in the bag, in priority order.
1. Hydration pack (CamelBak, Dakine, or similar), 2L minimum. A bottle works but you'll forget to drink. A pack on your back has a tube near your face. You will sip without thinking. This single change is the difference between feeling great Sunday and feeling cooked Saturday morning.
2. Electrolyte tablets or powder. 8 servings minimum across the weekend. LMNT and Liquid I.V. are the cleanest options.
3. Earplugs with music grade filters. Loop, EarPeace, or Vibes. Not foam. Foam ruins the music. Filtered earplugs preserve clarity at -15 to -20dB. Your ears at 35 will thank you.
4. Comfortable, broken in shoes. Not new. Don't bring new. EDC veterans wear running shoes or platform cushioned sneakers. You'll walk 8 to 12 miles a night. New shoes will end your weekend on day one.
5. Hands free phone holder (lanyard, fanny pack, or chest harness). You will dance. Holding a phone is misery. A fanny pack also keeps your ID, cash, and lip balm reachable without taking the bag off.
6. Portable phone charger (10,000mAh+) and a short charging cable. Phones die in heat. You will need yours to find your group, your hotel, and your car.
7. Lightweight bandana or buff. Pull it over your face when the dust kicks up. The Speedway is dusty when 200,000 people are dancing on it.
8. Sunglasses you don't love. They will break or get lost. Bring the spare pair, not the Ray Bans.
9. Mineral sunscreen, SPF 50. Reef safe. You'll be in the sun for soundcheck or pool time. Apply before, not during.
10. Small first aid kit. Bandaids, blister patches, anti chafe balm, ibuprofen. Especially the blister patches.
11. Cooling towel. The kind you wet and snap. Eight bucks on Amazon. Game changer when you're standing in line for the next stage.
12. Cash, ID, and one credit card in a waterproof pouch. Festival ATMs are a scam. Bring small bills.
13. Light jacket or oversized shirt. Vegas at 4 a.m. drops to the 60s. You'll feel it after sweating all night.
14. Glow gear: bracelets, LED accessories, fans. Your group needs to find each other. Glow is the universal language of "we're over here."
15. Color coordinated outfit per night. Three nights, three palettes. Decide before you leave. Nothing wastes more time than four people standing in a hotel room debating outfits at 5 p.m. when the line opens at 7.
16. Gum or mints. Hot Vegas wind, cottonmouth, dancing. You do not want to skip this.
17. A small printed photo of where you parked. Lot Q-23, Aisle 14. Trust me. Phone might be dead. Memory will definitely be dead.
What to wear
Neon and metallic for 2026. The trend has shifted away from oversized fluffy festival wear back toward fitted, functional, eye catching pieces. Think reflective fabrics that pop under the LED canopies. Think shorts and a top with a couple of statement layers, not full costumes that get sweaty by 9 p.m.
Mesh layers, breathable fabric, neon accents. Hands free. Practical. Photogenic.
For groups, pick a color and have everyone hit one piece in that color. You become the gang in the orange or the gang in the chrome. Easy to spot, easy to photograph, easy to feel like a unit.
If you're traveling and want to skip the assembly part, we built the Mykonos Nightlife Kit specifically for this kind of weekend. Hands free essentials, neon friendly accent pieces, a hydration pack friendly fanny, and the small item necessities (charger, bandana, glow accents) packaged together. We started building it after the third friend asked us "what do you bring to EDC?" It's the answer to that question.

It's not a costume. It's a toolkit you can layer your own style on top of.
The recovery weekend nobody tells you about
The festival is three days. The recovery is four. If you're flying in for EDC and flying out Monday morning, you're going to feel awful at work Tuesday. If you build in Monday for actual recovery, you bounce back by Wednesday.
The protocol that works:
- Sunday night after the closing set: electrolytes, two bananas, cold shower, eight hours of sleep with phone on Do Not Disturb.
- Monday morning: big breakfast (eggs, toast, fruit), 30 minute light walk, no caffeine until 10 a.m.
- Monday afternoon: epsom salt bath if you can. Your feet will weep with gratitude.
- Monday evening: early dinner, no alcohol, in bed by 10.
If you want to actually pamper the body, and your partner came along too, or you want to gift the recovery to someone, we also do a Spa Babe Set which is exactly the kind of "I need to feel human again" kit that earns its keep on a post EDC Monday.
How to coordinate a group
This is the underrated skill. EDC is enormous. Cell service is garbage. Your friends will scatter, and you will lose them.
Make the plan in writing before you leave the hotel. Pick a meet up landmark for every hour. 9 p.m. is the giant owl. 10 p.m. is back at the owl. 11 p.m. is circuitGROUNDS entrance. Give every member of the group a printed laminated card with the schedule, the hotel address, the lot number, and one emergency phone number. Phones die. Paper doesn't.
Match color a piece of clothing or a glow item across the group. Pre assign a "den mother," the person who is in charge of finding everyone before each major set. Rotate it across nights so no one person carries the burden.
The mistakes I keep watching first timers make
- Wearing the cute shoes. Always. They're back at the hotel by midnight, in flip flops, and the night is ruined.
- Skipping food. Eat before the festival. Eat at the festival. Caloric deficit, heat, dancing, and alcohol equals the Sunday morning you don't want.
- Not setting an alarm to drink. Sounds dumb. Works. Vibrate every 30 minutes, take a sip, snap back to the music.
- Going hard on Friday. It's a marathon. The headliners on Sunday are usually the best part. Don't burn out before then.
- Wearing the GoPro the whole time. No one watches the footage. Be present.
The bottom line
EDC is the best weekend of the year if you go in prepared. It's the most punishing weekend of the year if you don't. The line between those two outcomes is mostly logistics. Water, shoes, sleep, group plan. Get those right and the music does what it's supposed to.
If you're heading there next week and want the assembly skipped, the Mykonos Nightlife Kit is built for exactly this trip. Order by Monday for guaranteed delivery before Friday.
See you on the speedway.
