The New-Home Ritual | Housewarming Gift Box for New Homeowners
The New-Home Ritual is a Canadian-made housewarming gift box — a LOHN essential-oil candle, a ceramic key dish, apothecary matches, a handwoven linen tea towel and handmade maple-leaf coasters, gift-wrapped in the navy Gitano Kit box and shipped free in 1–2 business days across Canada and the U.S.
Why we made The New-Home Ritual
In Toronto, September 1st is quietly the biggest moving day of the year. We've carried enough boxes up enough narrow staircases — into first condos near King West, basement apartments off the Danforth, and first real houses in Leslieville — to know the strange feeling of night one: everything you own in cardboard, and nothing that feels like home yet. So we built a ritual for that first night. Light a candle. Put your keys somewhere beautiful. Hang a real linen towel. Set a warm drink on a wooden coaster instead of a moving box. That's the moment a new address becomes a home — and it's a moment you can give someone, whether they're moving across Toronto or across the continent. We ship it anywhere in Canada and the U.S.
What's inside
- LOHN "ORO" essential-oil candle — from LOHN, one of Toronto's most-loved candle studios: jasmine, pink pepper and warm amber in a frosted vessel. ~50 hours of clean burn.
- Ribbed ceramic key dish — a home for the new keys, in your choice of White, Beige or Navy (that's the Color option above).
- Apothecary jar of safety matches — No. 60 red-tip matches in a corked glass jar that looks good left out on the counter.
- lot8 "The Perfect Tea Towel" — 100% OEKO-TEX linen, sewn by hand in Stratford, Ontario. Softens with every wash.
- Handmade maple-leaf coasters — a set of four laser-cut walnut leaves from Foxwood Gifts in Windsor, Ontario. Unmistakably Canadian, quietly beautiful.
Make it personal
Add your message in the order note at checkout — we handwrite it on a Gitano card and tuck it inside the box. No printed labels, no invoices, just your words in real ink.
Housewarming gift questions, answered
What is a good housewarming gift? The best housewarming gifts are useful on night one and beautiful for years: a quality candle, a key dish, real linen, and coasters cover the first evening and the next thousand. That's exactly what The New-Home Ritual is built around — and nothing in it expires or duplicates what movers already packed.
Can you ship it to another city? Yes. We ship free across Canada and the United States, 1–2 business day dispatch — so you can be in Vancouver or Chicago and still welcome someone home in Toronto, or the reverse.
Is it a good gift from a realtor or landlord? Very. Real-estate closing gifts are our most common order note on this box — it photographs beautifully in an empty new living room, and the handwritten card does the remembering for you.
Does anything in the box expire? No. It's deliberately food-free — no baskets of snacks that vanish in a week. Every piece is a keeper.

WHY THE NEW-HOME RITUAL
The ritual that turns a new address into home.
September 1st is Toronto’s biggest moving day — boxes in the hall, nothing quite where it belongs. We built this kit for that first night. Light the LOHN ORO candle. Put your keys in the ceramic dish. Hang a proper linen towel. Set a warm drink on a walnut coaster. That’s the moment a place becomes yours — and it’s a feeling you can send anywhere in Canada or the U.S.
THE GITANO KIT PROMISE
Curated in Canada. Zero filler, zero compromise.
Every item ships free, gift-wrapped in the navy Gitano box. The LOHN candle is Toronto-made. The lot8 tea towel is sewn by hand in Stratford, Ontario. The maple-leaf coasters are laser-cut walnut from Windsor. Nothing inside expires, nothing ends up in a drawer. Just pieces that make a new home feel like it’s already been lived in.
